iCan Swim Camp is a program specifically designed and modified for individuals with disabilities to reach their maximum level of independent movement, safety and enjoyment of aquatic environments. Goals will range from an introduction to water exploration, learning water safety in an aquatic environment, learning to swim, and/or skill refinement in preparation to join a Special Olympics, Paralympic or other swim team.
Modifications may include teaching strategies, communication modifications, and physical accommodation with minimal use of equipment. Our goal is to help swimmers reach their maximum potential regarding independent movement in the water.

"iCan Swim Camp had a huge positive impact on Megan! She gained confidence in the pool, including going underwater, attempting the back stroke, and even a little bit of independent swimming! Megan has continued working on all these things in the bathtub, because she wants to! We loved how individualized it was and how they set very high and appropriate expectations for Megan. Her instructor was amazing! We can't wait to get back to swim camp!" - Megan's Mom
"My son benefited immensely from the iCan Shine swim camp. The volunteers were so well trained and engaged, the lessons were tiered and met the swimmer where they were in skills, the atmosphere was so fun, and the location was fairly central. My son, who was already fairly close to swimming independently, was swimming unassisted by Tuesday!!!! He was so proud, and we were, too! The swim camp was the best thing he did all summer! Our kids go to the pool almost daily. The success Jack had at the swim camp helped him keep up with his peers at the pool and gave him the confidence to be more independent at the pool. Jack made wonderful friend with the volunteers at swim camp. We saw two of the student volunteers over the winter, and both remembered him, taking time to stop and speak with him. What a wonderful outreach opportunity for those young leaders and for our Down syndrome community." - Jack's Mom
